Talk About Transition

We are three months into 2022 and many New Year’s Resolutions have long fallen by the wayside. How about you? Did you make a vow to make changes in your life to ensure that 2022 is better than the year before? Instead of resolutions, I prefer to select a word to define my year, and my word for 2022 is “transition”.

God has had me on a journey over the past year-He has completely changed every facet of my life, from my job to my faith community; to my family (the empty nest is on the horizon) and ministry. Much of my life from last year at this time has changed. Lots of transition.

Transition. Not a word we are always comfortable with. Transition is exciting, yet scary; full of possibilities, yet uncomfortable; and filled with many firsts- trying to develop new schedules, relationships, and ways of doing things.

Transition is a place where God brings us to grow, to move forward, to take steps closer to Him. He brings us to this place so that we can have complete dependence on HIM. A place where our established identities are stripped away. This is a place of trust. God often doesn’t give us the complete directions when He asks us to move. He just wants us take a step toward Him; a baby step of faith. He gives us the first step and wants us to trust and obey. Then, He gives us the second step and wants us to trust and obey. Then, well, repeat.

We have to trust that He will work all things out for good and that HE knows the final destination. (Romans 8:28). I’ve walked with God for a long time. I’ve seen Him work and move in my circumstances; I’ve experienced answers to prayer and miracles in my life and in the lives of those around me. I know the character of God – He is good, He can be trusted; He is all powerful and all knowing. And yet He is a God who is personal; He has plans for our lives.

He has us on a journey. He doesn’t want us to stay where we are; He desires for us to be molded into His image. That means day after day, week after week, and year after year, we should be growing. Changing our way of thinking; our patterns; the things we say; the way we act.

Perhaps you are at a place where you are ready to take a step in a new direction for your life, your family, your career, ministry, or calling. Perhaps you have been stuck in a place you no longer want to be and you want to begin living life with more purpose and meaning. I’d love to help you.
